Food Inc.

The film Food Inc. is an eye opening experience to say the least. I had recently been cutting back on fast food due to the common understanding that it is not healthy for you, but this movie completely revealed just how bad the food industry has gotten. With so much sugar and fat being shoved into the products of these fast food establishments, it's no wonder our obesity and heart-disease rates are so high. Hearing the story about the little boy that died from eating a tainted cheeseburger makes me think twice before heading out to eat. Though this movie seemed to emphasize the meat-packing industry quite a bit, there is still a huge risk of bacteria such as Ecoli in fruits and vegetables. It's because all of the growth hormones that food is becoming more and more dangerous, and it's not going to stop until legal action and strict regulation is imposed upon food manufacturers.

Overall, I really enjoyed this movie and think it is an important wake-up call for today's society. Unless this issue is brought out of the darkness that corporations have engulfed it in, no changes will be made. And more unsuspecting people may become susceptible to deadly bacteria and pesticides.

PS. There's another movie called Fast Food Nation that may be worth taking a look at if you ever have the time.

  2. I have watched Fast Food Nation as well.. it is just as informing as this one. To watch these types of movies always makes me more and more cautious of what I eat. I think you have it right when you say the only thing that will help this situation is legal action or strict regulations. Most people just don't realize what the food we eat today has become, I know I didn't.

  3. I would agree with you a lot that the food industries are getting worse, as well as more people dying or getting sick. Upon mentioning the risk of diseases, I think scientists should try to stop those diseases so people wouldn't get sick from their food.

  4. It is nice that you are cutting back on fast food, since they are not using good quality ingredients in their meals. The story of the little boy was extremely sad and heartbreaking. I cant believe these major meat companies are not doing anything to make our food healthier. I will watch the Fast Food Nation and suggest it to my fiends. Thank you.

  5. I used to live in Washington State and I remember hearing the news coverage in regards to this trajedy that happened to this family. I was disgusted. This did not have to happen to them with stricter regulations on companies that provide our food in the future hopefully this can be avoided so another family does not have to have this become their reality as well. I am so proud of the film makers who produced Food Inc to bring this movie to the world audience took a lot of guts for them to do this and againg good for them in eduacating america about our food supply.

  6. Yes after I saw the film Food Inc, I was in shock. I agree that most people who go to the grocery store do not ever bother to think where their food comes from and the torture the animals suffer. It is also sad that low income families have no other choice but to feed their children fast food because it is less expensive than healthy foods.

  7. This movie certainly is a wake-up call. I never fully understood when people said fast food was bad. Certainly it's not fresh and is full of fat, but until Food Inc I had know idea. I think the part about the little boy dying was the biggest wake-up call of all.
